ePortfolios are used in programs and departments in every College at Virginia Tech. There is also significant ePortfolio use in many of the academic support groups on campus. There are currently over 100 projects working with the ePortfolio Initiatives at Virginia Tech, and over 13,000 students are involved in portfolio activities across the university.
ePortfolio Initiatives support an approach to ePortfolios that addresses one or more of three areas: learning, assessment, and professional development. It is possible for an ePortfolio to facilitate all three areas. Moreover, many programs choose to focus on their highest priority area first within their portfolio development and target additional areas as their portfolio projects progress.
